미국 은행계좌 닫기

은행 계좌를 가장 손쉽게 클로징하는 방법은 본인이 직접 은행으로 찾아 가서 신분증과 함께 보여 주면서 클로징하는 것이 제일 쉬운 방법입니다. 그런데 클로징하지 않고 계좌를 남겨 두었다가 나중에 한국에 돌아 가서 클로징 하려고 할 때 문제가 되기에 다음 아래의 글을 올립니다.

한국에서는 이 은행의 계좌를 절대 close 할 수 없다고 합니다. 미국에서 close를 하거나 계좌를 공동인 계좌로 만들어 놓은후 그 공동인으로 하여금 처리하는 방법이 좋을 것 같습니다. 다음 글은 계좌를 close하는 사람이 은행으로 부터 받은 메일입니다. 한국에 들어 가는 분은 참조 하세요

Please verify via e-mail if you would like your Advantage relationship
dissolved and your account converted to a Regular Checking account.

In order to have a friend be able to close your account in your absent,

we suggest adding the person to your account. You may add someone to
your account online by providing the following information:

1. Full name
2. Social security number
3. Driver license number
4. Date of birth of the individual you are adding to the account.

Once this information is received, we will mail you a signature card to
be completed and returned to us. The new joint owner will be added to
the account approximately 10 business days after we receive the signed
signature cards and a copy of the driver license.

Closing all of your Bank of America accounts, which have existing
balances, requires a visit to a Bank of America banking center. If you
are unable to visit a banking center, a request to close all accounts
can be submitted by mail. Please send to the following address:

In your request, please include the account numbers you wish to close,
your name, current address, and include a signature as it appears on
your signature card. As soon as your request is received, an official
check for the closing balance will be mailed to you.

We are able to close your account via Online Banking. We recommend
transferring your remaining balance to another Bank of America account,
or withdrawing the funds by other means. Once the account balance is at
$0.00, you can resubmit your request via Online Banking at your convenience.

맨 아래 글 설명대로 은행계좌의 발란스를 제로로 만들면 어느 곳에서든지 클로징이 가능합니다. 미국 어디서든, 한국이든...여기서 발란스 제로를 그럼 어떻게 만드냐고 질문을 할 수 있는데, 그것은 온라인 뱅킹으로 Transfer을 하면 됩니다. 물론 비용이 들겠지요. 그래도 디파짓으로 돌아 오는 check을 입금하고(다른 사람에게 부탁이 필요하죠) 본인이 직접 클로징을 한다는 면에서 깔끔해 보입니다. 미국내 다른 곳으로 이주하시는 분들은 디파짓 또한 이사가는 주소로 보내 줄 수 있어서 다른 사람의 도움 필요없이 본인이 모든 것을 처리 할 수 있습니다.

1. 은행 계좌 발란스 제로 만들기(예:온라인 뱅킹)
2. 고객 센터로 전화 하여 위에 적혀 있는 정보(4가지)를 알려 주면 됩니다.
